GIBSON LES PAUL SPECIAL ELECTRIC GUITAR
The incomparable Les Paul Special gets back to basics, sporting solid features and subdued aesthetics. It's made with classic Gibson craftsmanship, has awesome Les Paul Special design features, and boasts distinctive P-90 pickups. This guitar is for players who enjoy the vibe of this modest Les Paul model.
Classic Gibson Craftsmanship
The Les Paul Special originally hit the market in 1955, during the golden era of Gibson innovation. Since then it has been a classic workhorse in the Les Paul family. The single cutaway body is shaped from mahogany and sports a small pickguard. The 24.75" scale length neck is also shaped from mahogany, sporting a Vintage '50s profile. The fretboard is rosewood, lined with 22 medium jumbo frets and acrylic dot inlays.
Awesome Les Paul Special Design Features
With all the classic playability of the Les Paul, this LP Special is stocked with features that make it look and sound top-notch. There's a Graph Tech nut to keep the strings in place and moving smoothly. There's also a simple, effective wrapround bridge, working in concert with the Vintage Deluxe tuners to keep this guitar sounding great.
Distinctive P-90 Pickups
P-90's are an awesome Gibson innovation from the early days of the company. A unique style of single-coil, their wider bobbin produces warm tones that are rarely replicated. There's a three-way toggle switch to find your ideal pickup sound and each P-90 has a volume and tone knob, hand-wired with orange drop capacitors.
P-90 Single Coil Pickup
Legendary Tone
First introduced in the early 1950s, Gibson's legendary P90 single coil pickup produced a raw powerful tone that helped define the blues and rock and roll in their formative years. Today, the P90's traditional combination of high output and brilliant tone is still considered a favorite among many top musicians. Known by such familiar nicknames as the "Soapbar" and the "Cobalt," the P90 still cuts through any type of music, all while displaying amazing tonal sensitivity for everything from blues and rock to mellow jazz riffs. It's perfect as a vintage replacement, and features vintage, braided two-conductor wiring. It's also fully wax potted to eliminate any chance of unwanted microphonic feedback.
