What an incredible guitar. The JEM7V7 combines the most iconic features and legendary playability of the Ibanez JEM with the power and extended range of Ibanez’s UV-series seven-string guitars. The result is one of the most distinctive and versatile seven-string instruments Ibanez has ever produced.

At the time of listing, this is the only JEM7V7 currently available for sale in the UK. These guitars rarely appear on the open market, and this 2013 example offers an unusually accessible route into ownership because it has been played and enjoyed rather than preserved as a mint display piece.

GUITAR Condition Report:
This is a rare example of the now-discontinued Ibanez JEM7V7—Ibanez’s only seven-string JEM and something of a unicorn guitar. Produced for just one year, these are exceptionally difficult to find, particularly in the UK.

This 2013 example is in good overall player condition. It has been played and displays some cosmetic signs of use, but remains an impressive and highly desirable instrument. The condition is reflected in the asking price, making this an excellent opportunity to acquire one of Ibanez’s rarest production JEM models without paying the premium associated with a mint collector-grade example.

The guitar is supplied with its original hard case and Ultralite tremolo arm. No other accessories are included. Please review the photographs and detailed condition report below.

CONDITION: FIT AND FINISH
The guitar is in good player condition rather than mint or collector condition. Its main cosmetic points are a very small scratch near the tremolo-cavity cover, an approximately 1½-inch scratch around the neck-joint area on the back of the body, and some yellowing visible on the headstock, volume and tone knobs, and pickup-selector switch tip.
The exact cause of the yellowing cannot be confirmed. It may be the result of environmental or UV exposure during the guitar’s life. These points have been photographed and taken into consideration when setting the price.

FRET LIFE/FRETBOARD — The frets and fretboard display signs consistent with a guitar that has been played. Please study the detailed photographs for their current condition.

FADE/YELLOWING — The white finish remains striking, although some yellowing is visible on the headstock and certain control components. Please refer to the close-up photographs.

TREMOLO — The original gold tremolo is present and supplied with an Ultralite tremolo arm. The hardware may display age-related cosmetic wear consistent with the guitar’s player-condition grading, see photos to establish exact condition. There is very little evidence of tarnishing and the gold is still vibrant

NECK — The original neck is in good condition with no defects and retains the slim, fast feel for which the JEM series is renowned. An approximately 1½-inch cosmetic scratch is present around the rear neck-joint on the rear of the body area and is shown in the photographs.

ELECTRONICS — The original HSH pickup configuration delivers the powerful, articulate sound expected from a seven-string JEM.

BODY PAINT — The body presents very well overall but is not blemish-free. There is a very small scratch near the tremolo-cavity cover and the larger cosmetic scratch around the rear neck-joint area described above. Further light marks consistent with normal handling and playing may be visible under close inspection or strong lighting.

The JEM7V7 represents an extraordinary combination of two of Steve Vai’s most iconic Ibanez designs: the unmistakable styling and legendary playability of the JEM, combined with the extended range and power of the Universe seven-string series.

Its single-year production run has made the JEM7V7 exceptionally scarce and increasingly collectable. This is a particularly attractive opportunity for someone who wants to own and enjoy one of these remarkable guitars without the price or concerns that accompany an untouched museum-grade example.

JEM7V7 INFORMATION

Introduced in 2013, the JEM7V7 occupies a unique place in Ibanez history as the seven-string member of the celebrated JEM family developed with Steve Vai. This first-year example was crafted in Japan by FujiGen and retains the unmistakable Monkey Grip, elaborate Tree of Life inlay and premium Japanese construction associated with the range.

Its specification includes a five-piece maple/wenge neck, an alder body with basswood veneers and DiMarzio Blaze pickups in an HSH configuration. The combination delivers the familiar clarity, speed and flexibility of a JEM with the additional depth and range of a seven-string.

Produced for only a very limited period and discontinued soon afterwards, the JEM7V7 has become highly sought after by players and collectors. They seldom reach the market, particularly in the UK, and good honest examples are increasingly difficult to replace.
