Offered for sale is this beautiful 2006 Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue (R8), finished in a classic vintage-style Sunburst. Serial number 861023 identifies it as a 1958 Reissue produced in 2006.
This is an excellent example of Gibson's Historic Collection, combining authentic late-1950s construction with the outstanding craftsmanship that has made these Custom Shop reissues so highly regarded. Featuring a carved maple top, solid mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, and the substantial late-'50s neck profile, this R8 delivers the feel, tone, and response that players expect from Gibson's flagship Historic instruments.
During our inspection, we verified several hallmark Historic features, including the long neck tenon, R8 control cavity stamp, and factory-style Historic construction throughout.
The guitar is equipped with a matched pair of Gibson humbuckers individually marked:
- #1 Wound By PS (Neck)
- #2 Wound By PS (Bridge)
Both pickups retain their Patent Applied For decals, matching handwritten "Burst B" markings, and traditional braided leads.
The control cavity was also inspected. All four potentiometers carry the matching factory code:
440-70501 0633
indicating manufacture during the 33rd week of 2006, consistent with the guitar's production year and supporting the originality of the electronics.
Weighing in at 9 lbs. 4 oz., this R8 has the substantial feel many players appreciate while remaining well balanced on a strap.
Condition
This guitar is in excellent overall condition and has clearly been well cared for. It does show minor cosmetic play wear and a few small imperfections consistent with careful use, but nothing that detracts from its appearance, playability, or overall presentation. It appears most of the small blemishes live on the face of the headstock from less than careful re-stringing.
If you would like close-up photographs of any blemishes or specific areas of the guitar, please don't hesitate to ask. We're happy to provide additional detailed photos so you can purchase with complete confidence.
Setup & Playability
This guitar has been thoroughly inspected and professionally set up prior to listing.
