As one of Japan’s leading brands, Ibanez offers a wide range of models, from entry-level to professional-grade. Among them, the “SR (Soundgear)” series is a popular line that has garnered support from many bassists over the years thanks to its excellent playability, achieved through a slim neck shape and compact body design.

The model we’re introducing today is part of the “Premium” series, which inherits the design philosophy cultivated in the Japanese-made flagship “Prestige” series while achieving excellent value for money through manufacturing in Asia.

The body top features flame maple with a beautiful grain pattern, paired with African mahogany on the body back to produce a rich low end and warm midrange. The neck features a bolt-on joint with a 5-piece construction made of hard Pangapanga and Purpleheart.

The bass is equipped with two Nordstrand “Big Break” pickups, which are also used in numerous high-end basses. These pickups offer the low-noise performance characteristic of a split-coil design while delivering both the clarity of a single-coil pickup and the richness typical of a humbucker. From tight, well-defined low end to a prominent low-mid range and clear, resonant highs, they faithfully reproduce every nuance of the player’s picking style.

The preamp features Ibanez’s original 3-band active EQ. The mid-frequency range offers three selectable settings, allowing for precise sound shaping tailored to any genre or playing style.

The actual sound is characterized by the quick response and clear separation typical of the SR series. The low end is tight yet full-bodied, and the low-mid range has just the right amount of thickness, allowing the guitar to maintain a solid presence even within a band ensemble. The high end is sparkling and cuts through the mix well, delivering a modern tone with a crisp attack when slapping, a smooth, well-defined sound when playing fingerstyle, and a powerful, driven sound when played with a pick. It’s safe to say this is a highly refined instrument capable of handling a wide range of genres.

Its appearance also embodies the unique charm of the Premium Series. The vibrant Caribbean Green finish beautifully highlights the stunning flame maple grain, while the blue oval inlays on the maple fingerboard provide an exquisite accent. With a look that combines modern design and a sense of luxury, this guitar commands a strong presence on stage.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to consider it.
