Zoom L12next: A 12-Channel Mixer That Records Its Own Session

The Zoom LiveTrak L12next is a 12-channel digital mixer and 14-track multitrack recorder, built for bands, worship teams, and rehearsal rooms that want to mix a show and capture it at the same time. Twelve input channels carry combo preamps with up to +70 dB of clean gain, so quiet singers and dynamic mics come through without noise. The desk mixes front of house while a full multitrack lands on SD, ready for editing the next day. It is the LiveTrak for groups that have outgrown a small mixer but still want faders they can grab.

Hands-On Faders and Per-Channel Encoders

Twelve 60 mm faders give every channel its own throw, so balancing a band means moving hands, not scrolling menus. Three multi-function encoders per channel bring gain, three-band EQ, compression, and pan up to the surface where you can see and adjust them in a moment. That tactile layout keeps a mix moving during a live service, when there is no time to dig. Sixteen onboard effects add reverb and delay to vocals and instruments without patching outboard gear.

A 32-Bit Float Safety Net on the Master

Loud rooms punish a fixed-gain recording, and a single peak can ruin a take. The L12next records its master stereo mix in 32-bit float, so the finished bounce holds detail from the quietest passage to the loudest chorus with no clipping. Up to fourteen individual tracks capture in parallel at 24-bit/96 kHz for a full remix later. A worship team can record every service and know the master is always usable.

Five Monitor Mixes and a USB Interface

Five independent, switchable monitor outputs mean up to five players each get their own blend, whether they run in-ears or wedges. The same engine works as a 14-in/4-out USB-C audio interface, so the band can track into a DAW or feed a stream directly. Live capture to SD and USB streaming happen together, so nothing is lost. That makes the L12next equally at home on a stage and on a studio desk.

Overdubbing and Session Recall

Overdub Mode lets a songwriter stack part after part onto an existing recording, and Auto Punch In/Out drops in to fix a single phrase cleanly. Because the mixer and recorder are one device, a rehearsal idea becomes a layered demo without moving files around. Scenes recall full setups so a recurring service or set reloads in seconds. For a working group, that turns setup time into playing time.
