We are honored to offer for sale this 1962 D’Angelico New Yorker cutaway in near mint condition. This beautiful vintage archtop guitar is an uncirculated, one owner D'Angelico New Yorker made for a local jazz guitarist named Ken Cilione and is amongst the last precious few New Yorker models ever produced according to the records. The guitar has that signature John D’Angelico sound and rings for days like no other archtop guitar could ever produce.

John would hand carve the tops of his guitars with an exceptionally pronounced graduated edge. This technique helped to produce a sound board that experts have described as having a speaker like quality to them, harnessing all the energy of the top movement and broadcasting the sound completely throughout the guitar. I can tell you that after having played many fine arch top guitars by the likes of Gibson and other fine builders, nothing sounds as full and vibrant as these original D’Angelco New Yorker guitars.

The headstock has the "D'Angelico New York" script inlay and the traditional finial at the top. The X-braced top is very fine tight-grained European spruce producing a sound like non other. The celluloid binding is in excellent condition throughout the guitar. The ebony fingerboard features the split block pearl inlay with the owners signature inscribed at the 17th fret. The guitar features all the New Yorker trimmings such as an 18 1/8” wide body, multi bound top, back and sides, triple bound f-holes, split block pearl fingerboard inlays, Gold Grover Imperial tuners, mother of pearl art deco truss rod cover and D'Angelico strap hook mounted on the side of the neck heel. These early 1960’s D’Angelico New Yorkers are perhaps the finest sounding arch top guitars ever made. The guitar is in near mint condition and comes packed in the original case.
