The Gibson J200 is the undisputed 'King of the Flattops' and has undergone quite a few changes since its introduction in 1938. In 1947, the material of the back and sides was changed to maple, and in 1955 the name was shortened from 'SJ200' to 'J200' and the maple back and sides were laminated.

The guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top paired with a body of laminated flamed maple, and is adorned with cream binding and the distinctive engraved tortoise pickguard. The three-piece neck consists of two pieces of flamed maple with a piece of rosewood in between, and plays exceptionally comfortably. This is an ideal singer-songwriter guitar with a great look and a great Jumbo sound. Thanks to the maple body, it has a lot of clarity and sharpness in the highs. The large size also gives it plenty of volume, making it perfect for strumming.

This 1956 J200 has undergone a neck reset, and various braces inside the soundbox have been re-glued. Multiple cracks on the top have been repaired: behind the bridge, on the bass side of the soundhole, under the pickguard towards the bridge, and on the treble side of the neck towards the soundhole. Additionally, the top has been re-glued to the soundbox, and the sunburst finish has been touched up around the repairs.

A crack on the heel has been repaired, and a strap button was later attached here. Furthermore, the frets are on the low side, but the guitar plays well and is in tune. Finally, a built-in K&K Pure Mini pickup ensures that the guitar sounds its best when amplified.

This Gibson is a true player that will attract a lot of attention with its presence. The guitar is in very good condition and comes with a TFOA passport in a case.
