Wow! The Wolfhound is the newest model from Tom Anderson Guitarworks, and it is awesome! I must admit, I was skeptical when I first heard about it, but fine folks at Tom Anderson do not mess around when it comes to guitars, and the proof is right here. The Wolfhound is an incredible instrument – It’s good looking, it feels fantastic, it’s light, lively, resonant, and a true joy to play! I think this is my new favorite model (Paulina Poriskova is my old favorite model)! Tom Anderson has been building the highest quality boutique electric guitars for as long as anyone, and his creations are right up there with the best of the best. Each Anderson Guitar is built to the highest standard of quality and represents the pinnacle of a true player's instrument.
This particular guitar was displayed at Tom Anderson Guitarworks’ 2026 NAMM Show booth. The Wolfhound is a new design, at least partially inspired by a vintage Gibson SG Special. It has a slightly thinner, beveled edge body style reminiscent of an Offset SG. This one features all the killer features Tom Anderson guitars are known for – The unique “wedge” neck joint (which provides exceptional tone transfer and resonance, in addition to perfect alignment and geometry), Stainless Steel frets, perfect fit and finish, and versatile electronics which in this case include a pair of great sounding humbuckers – each with it’s own Cut Switch, and a 3 way “big toggle” for pickup selection. It’s constructed with a lightweight Okoume body and Mahogany neck with Rosewood fingerboard and "houndstooth" inlays. It's incredibly comfortable and balances great!
Like all Tom Anderson guitars, this one plays as good as it looks, and all the details of the fit and finish are flawless. The tone is awesome and it's surprisingly versatile. Anything from sparkling clean to snarling mean is available. Additional specifications include a short, 24.75" scale and a Happy Medium neck profile.
