Yamaha GX-1 1980s - Black

This is one of Japan’s most iconic early headless guitars, crafted from premium materials. It features a stunning rosewood fingerboard from that era, and the overall condition remains excellent. Extremely rare on the market, this is a highly collectible piece of Japanese vintage guitar history.The condition is not terrible and it is recommended as a collector's item. 
There are sightly scratches, dents, and dull parts shows in the photos, but it is in very good condition from the age.

The pickup has been replaced with a Bill Lawrence L-500.

The pickup selector switch is a SCHALLER Mega Switch Model P-5Way (for PRS)

The 5-way switch positions are configured as follows:

1. Neck pickup in series
2. Neck-side single coil + bridge-side single coil in parallel
3. Neck-side single coil + bridge-side single coil in series
4. Neck-side single coil + bridge-side single coil in parallel
5. Bridge pickup in series

This allows switching from thick humbucker tones to single-coil-style half tones.

Pulling up the tone pot activates a high-pass filter on the volume pot, preventing treble loss even when the volume is turned down.

The locking nut has been replaced.
The original GX-1 locking nuts often fail to lock strings properly due to aging, but since this one has been replaced, it will hold strings securely for the foreseeable future.

I previously owned a stock GX-1, and I remember the tone lacking clarity.
This modified unit, however, cuts through well in both clean and high-gain settings, and it served me very well in recording sessions.
