1961 Gibson Les Paul SG Custom Polaris White

This is a vintage 1961 Gibson Les Paul/SG Custom in Polaris White with Gibsons sideways vibrola tailpiece, used for a short time during the introduction of this model. The guitar has been well-kept throughout its life - there's been a refret with larger sized frets, a new nut installed, one volume knob is not original to the guitar and there's white touch up paint on a few of the dings scattered around the body.<br><br>The pickups and electronics are all original to the guitar. The pickup covers were removed at one point - the numbers 1,2,3 are written on the back of the pickups for the order to have been remembered. There's some sticker residue on the back of the headstock and the original tuners are slightly stiff even after being oiled.<br><br>The guitar plays wonderfully and has a fast feel to it thanks to the tall frets. The tailpiece does vibrate along with the bass notes as you play the guitar - a quirk of this design. It includes a modern SKB hardshell case along with the original Gibson hardshell case.
