This is a very distinctive fuzz pedal that debuted around 1974, blending in a sound two octaves lower. Used by legendary guitarists in the 1970s and later appearing in alternative rock sound design, it remains in the lineup today as a lo-fi, characterful fuzz pedal.
This is an early model from around 1975, featuring a script logo and a BUD case. The casing shows signs of use, including scratches, but it's in a very nice, vintage condition.
The op-amp ICs are LM741CN and N4013. The "BLEND" knob controls the blend of two octaves lower. The low, growling octave sound intertwines with the rough, compressed fuzz, creating a unique lo-fi tone where the contours of the original sound are distorted. By controlling the BLEND, the low frequencies that sink into the roar and unsettling harmonics are added, creating a distinctive fuzz sound reminiscent of 1970s psychedelic rock and 1990s alternative rock.
