Höfner 159 (ca. 1963)
The Höfner 159 is a solidbody electric guitar from the early to mid-60s. The model is quite rare and is hardly documented — even specialized Höfner archives call it a mysterious model. The best available information comes from collectors' archives and private finds.
Features of the Höfner 159
1.Solidbody guitar, European market
2.Vinyl covering (red, white, or black/white), typical of Höfner at that time
3.Two pickups (usually Höfner Type 510 or similar)
4.Two volume and two tone knobs
5.Slide switches for pickup selection
6.Bolt-on neck
7.Rosewood fingerboard
8.Small, compact body similar to the Höfner 160/162 series
The 159 was produced around 1963–1967 , but our year 1963 fits well with the early generation of this model.
