About the Guitar
The Custom 24. The Custom 24 is the model most closely tied to the start of PRS. It combines a carved figured maple top, mahogany back, 24-fret neck, 25" scale and tremolo.
Birds of a Feather. Paul Miles, PRS Director of Manufacturing and head of Private Stock, designed the inlay about ten years ago. It was previously available only through Private Stock. The design uses contrasting woods (ebony and figured maple) and negative space to form a flowing pattern across the fretboard rather than isolated inlays.
Top and finish. The Artist Grade Figured Maple top is finished in Charcoal Microburst. Dark charcoal frames the body and fades inward so the figure shows through the center. The natural binding outlines the top, and the natural mahogany back contrasts when the guitar is turned over.
DMO pickups. DMO stands for Dynamic, Musical, Open. PRS describes them as clear, balanced and vocal. With volume, tone and a 5-way blade selector, they give full humbucker and single-coil-style voices.
Neck. The Pattern Thin mahogany neck is 53/64" deep at the 1/2 fret and 57/64" deep at the 12 1/2 fret. It is 1 11/16" wide at the nut and 2 1/4" wide at the body.
Tremolo and tuners. The Gen III tremolo and Phase III locking tuners give smooth response, quick string changes and stable tuning. The wing buttons reduce mass at the headstock.
Made in Maryland. Built by PRS in Stevensville, Maryland, USA.
