Here's a pretty cool 1980s oddity from the folks at Guild. This is a first-year X-79 Skyhawk in metallic green, not sure what the official color name was. Looks a lot like candy apple green as I think they may have used a gold undercoat. All stock, as far as I know (strap buttons look a little odd but I think they are originals). Guitar plays well and sounds good, but does have some issues. The mini-switch which was either a coil tap or phase only turns the bridge pickup on or off so I am assuming is not working properly, or else I don't know what I'm doing. Open to suggestions. Probably that is a simple wiring fix but I don't have the experience to do it right so I'm leaving that the way it is. There was a small piece of wood chipped off on the upper headstock corner (not that uncommon on these due to the odd shape), and that was touched up. Assorted chips in the finish mostly at corners and one chip near the bottom strap button but really it looks pretty good. Quite a bit of lacquer checking present throughout. Frets good, attractive ebony board. Guild really was making a quality product then as always. Original hard case has a replaced handle, assorted scuffs and some stickers on it but totally functional and very sturdy. I've tried to price this with condition in mind but offers considered. Shipping will be $45 in the CONUS as it's kind of heavy with that case; elsewhere contact me for a quote. Thanks!
