Vintage 1970s Slingerland Spirit 1000 Drum Set – USA Made – Original Blue Wrap

This is an American-made Slingerland Spirit 1000 kit, built in Niles, Illinois in the late 1970s and released in 1980. It comes from the final era of US Slingerland production and has the warm, open tone these drums are known for.

The kit is in very good condition for its age. The original blue wrap presents well, with a slight lift at the seam on the floor tom and bass drum, which is typical as the original adhesive ages. It’s cosmetic only, doesn’t affect sound, and is an easy fix with a little contact cement if desired. The chrome is clean and the shells are solid. There’s light wear consistent with age and use, shown in the photos.

Some of the original factory protective film is still on the Slingerland logo badge, a sign of how lightly used and well kept this kit has been. The bass drum spurs still have their original rubber feet.

For reference, Slingerland bass drums from this era alone have sold for $250–300 in lesser condition. This is a complete, well-preserved kit.
