About This Model
The Roland W-30 is a 61-key sampling workstation built around a 12-bit onboard sampler capable of up to 14.4 seconds of sampling time at 30kHz, with 16-bit D/A converter playback. It offers 16-voice polyphony and a semi-weighted keyboard action. A built-in 16-track sequencer makes it a self-contained production tool, while compatibility with the Roland S-50, S330, and S550 sound libraries expands its sonic palette considerably. Connectivity includes MIDI In/Out/Thru and a 3.5" floppy disk drive for patch and sample storage, with an optional SCSI upgrade available for external devices. The W-30 earned a reputation among electronic artists — notably Liam Howlett of The Prodigy and DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia — for its punchy, characterful sampled sound.
