Gretsch G6128T - 1957 (Vintage Select '57 Duo Jet style reissue) Duo Jet Chambered Solid Body Electric Guitar S/N JT03010552 MIJUp for sale is my beautiful 2003 Gretsch G6128T-1957 Duo Jet reissue in Very Good condition. Built in January 2003 at the revered Terada plant in Japan (Serial: JT03010552), this instrument comes from the highly desirable early FMIC era, celebrated for premium woodwork and flawless Japanese quality control. The guitar is amazing. This is a really cool Duo Jet that's been out of production for quite some time. This guitar is the perfect balance between style, tone and playability. The G6128T-1957 is quintessential 1950's Gretsch Jet style and captures the look and feel of a real vintage Gretsch. The Dynasonic pickups sound excellent with a big full-bodied unrestrained bass response and very crisp and clear high frequencies. Weight ~ 7.5 Lbs. Chambered mahogany body with a laminated maple top for a resonant, punchy tone. This guitar shares the exact cosmetic and structural configuration as the famous 1957 Duo Jet played by George Harrison during the early Beatles era (which he bought secondhand in 1961) and used on the "Please Please Me" album as well as early Cavern and Hamburg shows - it's also pictured on the cover of his Cloud 9 album. This guitar is a vintage-accurate alternative to the official (and more expensive) signature replicas. I replaced a bad bridge pickup with a Gretsch replacement (will include old P/U with the sale). I also added a Vibramate String Spoiler to make string changes on the Bigsby easier. Because it was built in January 2003, this guitar was made right at the transition point when Fender Musical Instruments Corp. (FMIC) took over Gretsch's manufacturing and distribution. Japanese Terada builds from this specific window are famous for their excellent quality control, upgraded hardware accuracy, and premium woodwork.Aged Vintage Aesthetics: This '57 reissue features Hump-Block fretboard inlays, a silver plexi pickguard, and a rocking bar bridge paired with the Bigsby B3C vibrato. Specs & Condition:- Pickups: Single-coil DynaSonic pickups. Incredible, percussive bite with clear, deep lows. Perfect for rock, blues, rockabilly, and early Beatles tones.- Hardware: Bigsby B3C vibrato and synchro-sonic/rocking bar style setup.- Condition: Very Good. It has standard, honest player wear (light pick swirling/minor surface marks typical of a 20+ year old black guitar), but no major structural issues, cracks, or deep gouges (small chips in the back lower bout as shown in the photos). Neck is straight, frets have plenty of life, and the electronics function perfectly.- Included: Ships in its original Gretsch-branded hardshell case (OHSC) along with all original factory paperwork/hangtags.100% original with no modifications (except as stated). Will be securely packed and fully insured. This is not one of the cheap Gretsch models. This is a fine instrument that stands up there with the best. Plays really well. Sounds fab. Kills me to sell it.
