There’s a special magic in instruments that feel as though they’ve already lived a life — and that’s exactly the vibe you get from the Fender Custom Shop 1963 Telecaster in Relic Black, available at Haggerty’s Music. From the moment you lift it from its hardshell case, the lightly aged nitrocellulose finish and vintage-inspired hardware tell a story of countless shows played, records cut, and riffs discovered. This isn’t just a guitar with great tone — it’s an heirloom-quality tool that invites you to make your own mark.
At its core is a meticulously selected alder body, chosen for resonance and balanced tone, wrapped in a finish that highlights wood grain while evoking the feel of a well-worn classic. The rift-sawn maple neck carved to a period-correct 1963 “C” profile feels instantly familiar under your hand, while the 9.5” radius and narrow-tall frets strike the perfect balance between vintage flavor and modern playability. Every detail, from the vintage-style tuners to the engraved neck plate and relic’d tortoiseshell pickguard, has been thoughtfully considered to echo the golden era of electric guitar design.
But it’s when you plug in that the soul of this Telecaster comes to life. Twin Custom Shop hand-wound pickups deliver the snappy bridge bite and sweet, glassy clarity that made early ’60s Telecasters legendary, while the classic three-position switching and simple but effective control layout put expressive tone right at your fingertips. Whether you’re chasing twangy countryscape leads, gritty blues bends, or gritty rock jumps, this instrument responds with nuance and character.
Owning this guitar isn’t just about the sound — it’s about the feel, the story, and the connection between your hands and the music you create. With its deluxe hardshell case and that unmistakable vibe that only a Fender Custom Shop instrument can offer, this 1963 Telecaster Relic stands ready for anything from studio sessions to headline sets. Come experience it in person at Haggerty’s Music and see why players keep reaching for this timeless classic.
