Beetronics' Seabee "Harmochorus" Is a Chorus Like You've Never Heard

Last year, the wonderfully creative pedal builders at Beetronics released the Zzombee, an all-analog multi-effect which lurched into our hearts and, as Andy Martin put it in his "Top 5 Pedals of 2022," "chomped" on our brains.

Beetronics' followup is the Seabee Harmochorus. While not zombee-themed, it's no less infectious, and promises to bring a "never-before-heard pitch-shifting modulation" to your pedalboard.

The multi-chorus circuit is built on a foundation of analog bucket-brigade chips, like you'd have in any classic chorus pedal. In this case, you have three classic chorus settings.

But with digital control of the chorus' delay time, you can create chorus tones unlike any you've heard before, especially when paired with the "Harmo-" or harmony half of the pedal.

Three Harmochorus modes let you select various pitches and speeds, and even combinations of chords and arpeggiation patterns, to combine with the analog chorus tones and create either swarms of "angel bees" or "killer bees," depending on your mood.

The pedal has two stereo outputs and an input with selectable line level—meaning you can use the effect with guitar, synths, bass, recorded tracks, and more.

Highlights of the Seabee, according to Beetronics, include:

  • Analog sound path with the finest bucket brigade chorus tones
  • 3 Chorus modes / 3 Harmochorus modes
  • Never before heard pitch shifting chorus with arpeggios and random patterns
  • Truly expressive ramping gives you musical control
  • 16 Onboard presets,Tap Tempo, MIDI, Expression and more
  • Selectable input level (supports guitar, bass, active pickups, synthesizers, and more)
  • Hand-assembled in Los Angeles, California

With such an array of sounds available, the pedal's simple layout is more complex than meets the eye: with the three knobs hiding more possibilities via alternate controls, ramp shapes, tap tempo, filter, and feedback control.

There are 16 onboard presets to get you started, and a vast honeycomb of new sounds to create on your own.
