Tascam DM-4800 64-channel professional digital mixing console, supplied with the optional Tascam MU-1000 meter bridge, four installed expansion cards, original user manuals and documentation, and the original Tascam software CDs.

This is a particularly high-specification DM-4800 with all four expansion slots populated. All four cards are correctly recognised by the console.

Installed expansion cards

• Tascam IF-FW/DM MKII FireWire card
  Provides up to 32 channels of bidirectional computer audio, together with MIDI input and output. Please note that this is a legacy FireWire interface, so compatibility with modern computers and operating systems is not guaranteed.
• Two Tascam IF-AN/DM analogue I/O cards
  Each card provides eight balanced analogue inputs and eight balanced analogue outputs. Together, the two cards add a total of 16 analogue inputs and 16 analogue outputs.
• Tascam IF-SM/DM surround-monitoring card
  Provides eight dedicated analogue surround-monitor outputs, together with surround monitoring, downmixing and bass-management facilities.

MU-1000 meter bridge

The console is supplied with the optional Tascam MU-1000 meter bridge, providing dedicated 24-channel hardware metering and a timecode display. This is a valuable and increasingly difficult-to-find accessory.

With the two installed analogue expansion cards, the console provides 24 built-in mic/line input channels plus 16 additional expansion-card analogue inputs, giving a total of 40 primary analogue input channels, together with 16 additional analogue outputs.

The expansion cards increase the physical input and output capacity, while the internal mixer remains a 64-channel system.

Condition

The console is in good used condition for its age and has been used in a professional studio environment.

It shows cosmetic signs of use, including:

• Scratches and marks on the front aluminium surface
• General surface wear consistent with age
• Light tarnishing around some rear-panel connectors
• Minor marks on the wooden side panels and expansion-card faceplates

These cosmetic points can be seen in the photographs. There is no obvious major structural damage, and the controls, connectors and expansion-card panels appear complete.

All four installed expansion cards are detected and recognised correctly by the console.

The original software and driver CDs are included for completeness, but they contain legacy software and may not be compatible with current computers or operating systems.

Collection and transport

This is a very large and heavy professional console, weighing approximately 35 kg before the meter bridge, accessories and packaging are added. For this reason, collection is strongly preferred.

Any delivery would need to be arranged using suitable professional, insured or palletised transportation. Standard parcel delivery would not be appropriate for an item of this size and weight.

This is a comprehensively equipped DM-4800 package, including the sought-after MU-1000 meter bridge, two analogue I/O cards, a surround-monitoring card, the FireWire MKII card and the original documentation and software.
