Wal MK 2 - 5 Strings 1995 - Natural
S/N 3910 - May 1995 Made by Paul Herman (as per signature inside the control cover); the only one of the 4 Wal luthiers to continue production and since the early 90s, the one considered the best in terms of finish. Honduras Mahogany body, with maple accent veneer and top & back in quartersawn Wenge (heavier but more stable than flatsawn) chosen specifically to give maximum attack to the note. Neck with a light V section, in maple, walnut and hornbeam (the hornbeam due to the difficulty of finding it and the extreme hardness that makes it difficult to work, is no longer available since 2001); it was used to give greater stability to the neck. Entirely original bass, from the first to the last screw. Each pickup pole is actually a pick-up with its own winding, an invention by Wal to avoid interpolation between different strings and to adjust the frequency response (by virtue of the different number of turns) of the individual poles.
