Beautiful all original Hofner 173.
This is one is probably from around 1968.
The pickups sound killer and ooze vintage vibe. These are the ones which are the favorites of Jamie Hince of The Kills (albeit he plays a Hofner 169 and 176).
The slider selector switches allow you to combine all of them, which is a clear advantage over a normal strat.
The guitar plays like a breeze but it has a rounded, 60s style vintage vibe to the fretboard with narrow and low frets. The basswood body is very light. The neck is straight - I didn't have to turn the truss rod at all - and the frets, while used, are well polished and still do for many years.
As you can spot in the pictures the guitar has some cosmetic flaws on the pickguard and the head - I can only guess that someone had parts of the guitar painted. I mitigated that as good as possible. Some of the pickup combinations, notably all three together, result in an out-of-phase sound.
All in all, I therefore sell the guitar for a really competitive price.
The guitar will ship detuned. Please allow some time for packaging and shipping as well as delivery. Especially to some remote locations in the USA it might take several weeks.
