The Amazing MK1 stereo / dual mono parallel distortion unit, hand built at ShrunkenHeads Studios for mixing and mastering music! I’ve mixed with just about every distortion unit out there, and found them to either sound too processed, too muddy, or just plain raspy. This circuit was designed to add clarity, energy and Zing to any audio it processes - it also enhances stereo width and depth, which you’ll hear in the video. Just putting it on a reverb will expand your soundstage in a very beautiful and pleasing way. It will excite vocals, synths, guitars, drums - bass - and full mixes, though to get the most out of it you should process / bounce individual stems or busses to taste. There are three gain stage options - the send from your daw to the unit (very important to get the right tone, start at -30db) - the gain knob on the unit itsself, and the amount you want coming in to the mix via your daw’s bus volume. With these three elements in balance you will achieve saturation perfection, and mix Beautification!
And Yes - you can use it on guitar and bass.
Runs on a 9 volt pp3 battery (not included!) and has unbalanced jack sockets at both input and output.
