DESCRIPTION

The Anasounds Ego Driver is a Tube Screamer-inspired overdrive that builds on the classic 808 mid-boost design and extends it with genuine customisation options. Developed as part of the FX Teacher concept, it delivers familiar amp-pushing tones while allowing players to adjust clipping and filtering stages to suit their own style.

Used with gain low and level high, it tightens the low end and pushes an already driven amp for greater definition and mix presence. Increasing the gain adds smooth, harmonically rich saturation. The clipping and voicing options make it possible to move from traditional 1N914 diode compression to higher headroom LED clipping, alternative diode combinations, or even a clean boost with no diodes engaged.

The front panel keeps operation straightforward with OUT, GAIN and TONE controls, plus VOICING and CLIPPING switches. The TONE control follows the familiar 808 filter style, while VOICING selects between the original response, a user-chosen capacitor option, or a more pronounced high-mid setting. Inside, terminal blocks allow capacitors and diodes to be swapped with a screwdriver, and trimpots provide fine frequency adjustments for those who want deeper control.

The 100% analogue circuit offers strong headroom equivalent to an 18V dynamic range from a standard 9V supply. With 1.3MΩ input impedance and 146Ω output impedance, it integrates easily into most rigs. A robust metal enclosure, gold-plated 3PDT true bypass footswitch and Lumberg DC jack ensure reliable performance on stage or in the studio.
