Yamaha MD4 Multi-track Mini-Disc Recorder

Yamaha MD4 Multitrack MiniDisc Recorder.  A great four-track recorder with lots of features, and more important - this unit is a breeze to use.  I was able to use this recorder without referring to the manual, and that is a great feature.    

Used, in very good condition. Made in Japan in August 1996. S/N M002074. Includes: CD-ROM with Owners Manual and Service Manual, detachable power cable, and one (1) TDK 140MB MiniDisc. This is a 120V model.   Overall dimensions: 14.8 x 14.3 x 2.85 inches. Weight 10.8 pounds.

Condition:  Unit works as intended.  I acquired this lightly used unit more than seven years ago, and in that time it has been used less than three hours, as I have been using a Tascam 2488neo workstation.   

Known issues, all of which are cosmetic, are as follows.  These are shown in photos and pointed out by a yellow pencil: (1) plastic melted on fader and next to fader of 3rd channel; (2) another small melted point on top panel near power cable; (3) black material under the four channel faders has been torn (as I recall, when using compressed air to clean faders), the faders function properly, and, (4) very minor blemishes or scratches to finish, appropriate for a unit with light usage, as shown in all photos.

Utilizing Mini Disc (MD) Data format removable discs, the MD4 boasts 20Hz-20kHz frequency response, ultra low noise, and zero percent wow-and-flutter. MD Data discs offer the ability to erase and record on the same disc one million times, and unlimited track-bouncing with negligible degradation.

• Edit and re-sequence program segments and create new songs from segments; tunes can be rearranged, lengthened or shortened. Strong parts can be repeated, and weak parts deleted. 
  
• Combine all four fully-recorded tracks to any of the same tracks without losing any tracks. 
  
• Instantly access to any point on the disc plus programmable auto-locate and auto-punch-in with 12 ms accuracy. 
  
• Outputs MIDI timecode with tempo-mapping functions to allow MIDI systems to chase MD4 recordings with precision.
  
• 255 songs can be recorded on a single mini disc and easily titled using front panel controls. 
  
• Three recording modes offering total recording times of 37 minutes per track in the four-track mode, 74 minutes for stereo recording, and 148 minutes for mono recording.
