Fender Telecaster Keith Richards 'Sonny' Reissue 'Custom Order' FujiGen E-Serial 1985-87 Three Tone

Here is a very rare mid 1980’s Fender Japan Custom Order 'Sonny' Reissue Telecaster based on Keith Richards' awesome workhorse. Sonny doesn't get mentioned as much as Keith's 'Micawber. perhaps because Fender USA never issues a reissue of the guitar. However these are one of the best Telecasters Fender Japan ever issued in my opinion. There are rare and we have fund very few over the years so when they appear on the market we grab them quickly. It’s a factory spec E-Serial (1985-87) and was built for Fender in the legendary FujiGen plant’s custom order department. Both the body cavity and neck heel have the ‘Order Made’ stamp. It has a great sounding factory installed Dragster humbucker in the neck and a USA Texas Special in the bridge. It has the dull glazed look of nitrocellulose over the ash body instead of the usual shiny poly finish, but we haven't checked so cannot confirm nitro or poly. The body is solid White Ash with a maple neck and fingerboard with vintage 7.25 radius & single-ply black pickguard. It is rare to find a Three Tone Sunburst ('Sonny') finish over a Fender '52 RI (most are Blond or Natural Ash). The bridge pick-up is a huge sounding USA Texas Special which more than holds its own with the humbucker. In fine condition throughout. The neck is dead straight, truss rod fine and plenty of life left in the frets. Structurally and electrically sound. No issues at all. No breaks, repairs and is obviously factory routed for the humbucker.  It is in superb condition for the age.  Like all of these mid 80's White Ash Sonnys it’s a hefty old lump and weighs in at 4.7kg.  But what a great playing Tele, great action & the pickups are both outstanding and work well together. Complete with old Japanese gig bag. A very cool one-off 30+-year old Fender Japan Custom Shop reissue of Keith Richards legendary 'Sonny'. The only reissue of this guitar Fender have ever made. A rare one.
