For sale is my 1934 Gibson F5 Mandolin

These are quite rare, with just very few being manufactured.

The combination of the finer, later Fern inlay with the teens logo is one of my favourite pairings of the classic Gibson inlay.
This mandolin is in excellent shape with no cracks or issues at all.
It’s a loud, dominant instrument with a strong but tone full voice. It will completely get the job done in any musical format, this is not the thin, metallic sound that came in 40’s through to the 70’s. It’s much more that classic F5 sound that initially drew us all to the mandolin.
Manufactured in 1934 and not shipped until 1937 this F5 has the made in the USA stamp on the back of the peghead.

I’ve had it refretted, had the pickguard expertly repaired, the truss rod adjusted to remove a hump around fret 10 through 14 and installed a new saddle as the original was sagging in the middle. It now plays properly and easily as it should.
I have installed a set of worm over pearl button tuners that Darryl Wolfe gave me 30 years ago to increase playability and accuracy when tuning. These look perfect and work great.
Ive gigged with it many times and have always been satisfied with it’s performance every time.
Someone in the past has separated it from its original rectangular case so it is supplied in a 1960’s Gibson branded rectangular case. This how I received it when I purchased it.
If you search YouTube you can see the Dawg playing it at Dusty Strings. You can see him look at it in surprise at what it’s putting out.
Shipping to the USA is not what it was before the present administration but I’m sure we can work it out with some cooperation.
Buy with confidence. This F5 is worthy of any stage and will get you into the vintage F5 game without having to pay for a house!

Thanks for looking!
