AKG C34 Approx 1979 - Black

Vintage AKG C34 Stereo Microphone with S42 power supply, case, 12 pin cable, mic clip and original case.
I think we bought this around 1979 but the date can probably be accurately obtained from the serial number.
A rare and collectable stereo microphone in superb condition and full working order. Owned from new! Used fairly regularly in my studio and occasionally on location. It's an excellent microphone for choir recordings in churches!
It can be powered by Phantom Power or with a 9v battery in the S42. The original MK42 12 pin cable is 20 metres long. Polar patterns can be adjusted from Omni through Cardioid and figure of eight on the S42 controls making this a highly versatile stereo mic.
The mic is in amazing condition and sounds fabulous. All the adjusting mechanism is working smoothly. There are a few scuff marks on the top of the  S42 power supply.
There is a video of Abba using this mic for vocals on YouTube (See link). They used one channel as a clean source and the other one for parallel compression. The CK1 capsules are highly regarded and this microphone uses 4 in total.

The C 34 is a remotely-controlled polydirectional stereophonic microphone derived from the C-450 system. It uses two pairs of twin CK-1 capsules. One is fixed to the main housing and the other is rotatable through an angle of 0-180º. A remote control pattern selector allows for independent adjustment of each capsule’s polar response over a range of nine patterns.
