A slice of British amp history which has just been serviced and is now fully working again and ready to use.
WEM manufactured this solid state amp from 1966 to 1972. It outputs 6 Watts to an 8" ELAC speaker, with simple controls for Volume and Tone (incorporating On/Off switch). Inputs for electric guitar ('INST') and crystal microphone or piezo pickup ('PU').
The power supply has been rebuilt using a new bridge rectifier exactly the same as original, and a new filter capacitor chosen to fit the original clamp. The controls have been electrically cleaned to eliminate crackles, and now operate smoothly. All working well now and quite a punchy sound for its small speaker.
