This collection recreates the famous sound of Chess Records and the Chicago Electric Blues sound. A seminal time in the foundational development of what would later become known as rock and roll, this collection is inspired by three generations of rhythmic stalwarts, each one with a tenure at the label.

This sample collection explores the Rhythm and Blues drum sounds of Sweet Home Chicago, emulating the iconic grooves emanating from 2120 S. Michigan Ave, right on South Michigan Avenue’s Record Row (between about Roosevelt Road and 22nd Street) on the city's near southside.

This collection contains drum sounds modeled in the fashion, tuning, mic placement, and grooves of Fred Below, Maurice White, and Morris Jennings. This pack covers notable hits that they played on, such as "Smokestack Lightnin" by Howlin' Wolf, "Susie Q" by Dale Hawkins, "Wang Dang Doodle" by Koko Taylor, and many more.

The kits of these three drummers were always set up differently or tuned differently depending on the session, so a mixture of Gretsch and vintage Ludwig drums are carefully tuned and muffled to get the sounds needed in this collection. Cymbals are vintage and modern Zildjian A’s and K’s.

Featuring Snare, Kick, Tom, Cymbal and Tom one-hits, dozens of groove loops and drum fills from Chess Records hits all emulated to be historically accurate.
