Vintage Electra Model 2221 Hollowbody Guitar
-
All Original (except for the replacement truss rod cover)
- Made in Japan
-
Red Finish
- Full hollow body (not semi-hollow)
- The vibrato tailpiece is unfortunately missing the tremolo bar, but any Bigsby-type replacement bar would easily fit in its place.
- Roller bridge with rosewood bridge base
- Nice 3-piece neck, like you only find on very high end guitars.
- Two amazing sounding pickups
- 3-way pickup selector
- Volume & Tone knobs for each pickup
- The bridge height adjustment discs are included (see photo #22), but they are currently off to have the action as low as possible.
- It's just had a complete professional set-up--restrung with new .010s, frets polished, fretboard cleaned & oiled, bridge & pickup heights adjusted, truss rod adjusted, intonation set, etc.
- With the action as it is, the neck has a couple dead spots when you play way up on the higher frets, but it could easily be fixed by raising the action if you prefer. If you're like me & seldom play way up on the neck then it'll be good as it is.
- Functionally this guitar is in very good condition, esp. for a vintage guitar. All electronics work as they should. There's some fret wear, as you'd expect on a guitar of this age, but the frets still have plenty of life left on them (see photos).
- Cosmetically, the guitar is in excellent condition, with a few nicks/scuffs, all of which can be seen in the photos. The most obvious cosmetic issue is that the binding expanded away from the wood in both bouts at the neck pocket (see the last two close-up photos above); this doesn't affect the structure or stability of the guitar, & it's been like this for many years without any further change or expansion.
Please look carefully at all of the photos and feel free to contact me with any questions before buying. In addition to my 100% 5-star feedback rating here on reverb.com, I also have a 20 year, 100% positive feedback rating on eBay (from nearly 1000 ratings--user name "scedro").
Note:
The set-up on any guitar is subjective & a matter of personal taste, which of course varies for every player. While each instrument I sell is professionally set-up prior to being listed on Reverb, that set-up may not be exactly to your particular taste "right out of the box" & (as with any instrument that you buy anywhere) you should expect to possibly make adjustments to the action, string gauges, etc. to suit your exact tastes.
