Reverb sellers kickstart 2022 with best quarter ever

As consumer demand for music gear remains high, sellers on Reverb built on a strong- 2021 with continued growth in Q1

Thursday, May 5, 2022 — Reverb, the largest online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling new, used, and vintage musical instruments, today announced that Reverb sellers had their best quarter ever. In the first three months of 2022, sales reached a new quarterly high, slightly outpacing the very strong growth experienced in the first three months of 2021. This growth was propelled by steady demand for a wide range of gear and consumers’ continued interest in purchasing music gear online.

“Sellers on Reverb continue to see high demand for guitars, synthesizers, pedals, drum machines, interfaces, and more. Encouragingly, players who’ve leaned into music-making since the onset of the pandemic appear to be sticking with it,” said David Mandelbrot, Reverb’s CEO. “As these players continue to evolve their playing, more and more they're selling their used gear on Reverb and trading up, finding the next great piece of gear from the dealers and brands on Reverb. From our sellers, new players are finding a huge variety of gear and a great experience, which keeps them coming back again and again.”

In the first quarter of 2022, Reverb announced that it expanded the hours that buyers and sellers can get support from Reverb Support. The Reverb Support team is now available via live chat from 3 a.m.–9 p.m. CT, Monday–Friday, as well as 10 a.m.-4 p.m. CT on Saturday and Sunday. The team plans to continue expanding the ways in which Reverbers can get in touch, including making phone support available by the end of the year.

A support team that is dedicated to music gear and understands the nuances of buying and selling instruments is one reason Minnesota-based El Diablo Amps & Guitars uses Reverb as their main online selling channel.

“Having real people at the other side with both the technical skills and cultural knowledge of the business makes using Reverb feel very personal,” said owner Alan Estevez, who also notes the benefits of Reverb’s community of buyers all over the world. “Reverb’s global audience is something that would be unattainable on our own. That combined with all of the seller tools and integrations allows a small shop like us to be a real player on the global stage.”

Additionally, Reverb introduced Calculated Shipping to help bring added clarity to USPS shipping rates. When an item sells, the new Calculated Shipping feature automatically calculates the exact shipping cost based on the location of the buyer. The buyer pays for shipping, Reverb provides the label, and all a seller needs to do is send the package. This new feature is just one example of the improvements Reverb is making to the shipping experience based on feedback from sellers.
