Yamaha YPC-32 Standard Piccolo - ABS Resin Body | Piano Gallery, Idaho Falls
The Yamaha YPC-32 is a standard-level piccolo built for students and woodwind doublers who demand reliable intonation and authentic piccolo tone without sacrificing durability. Its maintenance-free ABS resin body delivers a warm, characteristic sound closely resembling that of natural wood, making it an outstanding instrument at the student and intermediate level. Trusted by music educators and school band programs alike, the YPC-32 is one of the most dependable Yamaha student piccolos available at Piano Gallery in Idaho Falls.
Product Overview
The YPC-32 features a sturdy matte ABS resin body and bell engineered to mimic both the look and acoustic character of traditional grenadilla wood. This material choice gives the instrument excellent resistance to temperature fluctuations, humidity, and the physical demands of daily use — including outdoor marching environments. The silver-plated finish over the key system adds a polished, professional aesthetic while providing lasting corrosion resistance.
Performance on the YPC-32 is driven by a nickel silver headjoint paired with silver-plated nickel silver keys, a combination that produces the light, airy tone piccolo players expect while maintaining responsive key action across all registers. Ribbed key post construction reinforces the body for greater structural integrity and helps preserve precise key alignment over time.
Special design elements such as the split E mechanism, undercut tone holes, concave contoured keys, and double bladder pads set this instrument apart from other entry-level piccolos. These features — drawn directly from Yamaha's professional-grade YPC series — ensure that students develop proper technique on an instrument that responds and plays like a higher-tier woodwind.

Key Features
Tone Production The ABS resin body and bell produce a warm, full-bodied piccolo tone that closely approximates the character of wood instruments, making it an ideal choice for students building their ear and tone concept.
Key/Valve Mechanism Silver-plated nickel silver keys with concave contouring provide excellent finger position and precise key coverage, while ribbed key post construction maintains accurate action over extended use.
Split E Mechanism The split E system makes the notoriously difficult high E more accessible, producing a cleaner, more responsive note — a feature typically found only on intermediate and professional piccolo models.
Construction Materials The wear-resistant ABS resin body requires virtually no maintenance and withstands the physical demands of marching band, outdoor performance, and daily practice far better than wood alternatives.
Intonation System Undercut tone holes improve response and pitch accuracy across registers, and stainless steel springs ensure smooth, consistent key action that supports proper technique development.
