Updated scalloped bracing contributes to a louder, more balanced tonal response, while the guitar also features a classic V-shaped headstock and a refined semi-gloss finish.
Inspired by Yamaha’s iconic 1960s Red Label guitars, the FG Red Label series reflects the look and feel of the company’s early steel-string acoustics, known for their distinctive sound and Japanese craftsmanship. These instruments blend vintage styling with modern construction techniques to recreate a true-to-life vintage voice, using advanced wood conditioning methods. Across the series, you’ll find traditional design cues like the V-shaped headstock with Yamaha’s tuning fork logo, solid tonewoods, updated bracing, and elegant semi-gloss finishes.
The FG3’s construction is designed to improve both tone and playability. Yamaha’s A.R.E. process helps simulate the tonal characteristics of aged wood by carefully controlling temperature, humidity, and pressure, resulting in a more mature, open sound. The revised scalloped bracing enhances volume and tonal balance, giving the guitar greater projection and clarity.
A solid Sitka spruce top provides strong projection and articulate response, while contributing a well-rounded, dynamic tonal character that benefits further from the A.R.E. treatment.
