Overview
Ovation guitars were developed by aeronautical engineer Charles Kaman starting in the mid-'60s. Ovation were the first production guitars to use fiberglass backs, and brought a number of innovative features never before used on acoustic guitars. The Patriot was a limited run of 1776 guitars released in 1976 that included a patriotic emblem on the soundboard.
