The Noise Engineering Sinclastic Empulatrix is a compact 4HP Eurorack module that combines an exponential attack-release (AR) envelope generator with a unique "voltage controlled clamp" instead of a traditional VCA. Inspired by the Roland TR-808's hi-hat section, it is widely praised by users on forums like Mod Wiggler for creating sharp percussive hits and drum voices. SPECS: Voltage Controlled Clamp: Unlike a standard VCA that scales a signal, this module uses a clamp that limits the signal by clipping it. This adds a subtle, unique distortion as the envelope decays, making it ideal for percussion. Snappy Envelopes: The module generates exponential curves with a wide time range from 50 microseconds to 5 seconds. A rear jumper can increase these times by a factor of 3.5 for longer swells. Gate/Trig Modes: A toggle switch allows the module to respond to the full gate length or act as an edge-triggered "ping," which is excellent for consistent percussive envelopes.
