Overview

The Martin D-28 is an absolute benchmark dreadnought, and early D-28s rank as some of the most collectible acoustic guitars ever. When Martin introduced the D-28 in 1931, it laid the groundwork for where the acoustic guitar industry would go. A major turning point for the 28 came in 1969 when a switch was made from Brazilian to Indian Rosewood. While this makes D-28s from the '70s less valuable than earlier guitars, they are still very well-regarded instruments.  The D-28S is a version of the D-28 with a slotted headstock and the original 12 fret above the body neck style.
