Allman Brothers Band Owned & Played 1957 Les Paul Standard Goldtop.Gregg Allman gave this 1957 Les Paul Goldtop to “Dangerous “ Dan Toler during his time playing with Gregg.This very special guitar had been in the Allman “family” for years, and as was done to several other instruments the band members owned, it was sent back to the Gibson factory in or around 1973 to be “refreshed” , refretted/refinished.The tuners, pickup rings and one of the tone knobs were replaced at that time.The guitar retains all its original electronics. As Duane “Skydog” Allman would agree, most important the neck and bridge position Patent Applied For Humbucking pickups.Switch cap, ring , pickguard and bell cover are all original to this guitar as well as ABR bridge and stop tailpiece.Verified: Heritage Auction Icons of 21st Century Music, April 17, 2004 .This guitar is accompanied with letters of authenticity from : ” Dangerous” Dan Toler guitarist with the Allman Brothers from 1979-1982/Dickey Betts Great Southern 1977/ Gregg Allman Band from 1982-1989.Additional Verification: Letter of authenticity from: William Perkins, Road Manager for ABB from 1970-1976 as well as Gregg’s personal manager from 1983-1990.Photo Match : Gibson Electronics A.R.
