The VU backlight burned out, but the meter is fine and the LED VU provides reference in darker environments; as such, it has never been a bother. If memory serves, we used to pickup replacement meters for around $50. It's an easy changeout. Anyway, these units make great front-ends for almost any signal thrown their way, with preamp and channel strip EQ, compression, gate, both high- and low-pass filters, and de-essing. These do what they're designed to do, do it very well, and remain both flexible and musical. This unit is fully operational, sounds amazing, and ships as seen.
