The Fender Custom Shop’s Artisan Series is a collection of breathtaking instruments that pose a compelling question to the player: is it a guitar or is it rather a work of art? The answer is not simple, for these beauties play and sound just as fantastically as any well-worn player’s guitar, yet they look as though they truly belong at a gallery opening. For these guitars only the very finest woods and materials are used. This is certainly the case with the "chambered" Telecaster presented here, featuring a body crafted from Fiji mahogany and a stunning top that captivates with the phenomenal grain of 4A Koa wood. It is framed by exquisite brown shell binding and visually refined with a single-ply pickguard made from the same material in the "Caballo Tono" style. The neck, too, impresses with the attractive grain of "roasted" 4A figured maple and a deep dark Macassar ebony fretboard. ...and this neck plays to perfection, thanks to a modern 9.5–12" compound radius, the popular "60 Style Oval C" profile and lightning-fast Jumbo frets. Sonically, this exclusive Telecaster proves to be remarkably resonant even before being plugged in. Once amplified, the "Handwound Loaded 51 Nocaster" at the bridge — thanks to its approximately 1,500 extra windings — delivers massive, heavy Rock riffs when distorted, while its clean, twangy tones would truly win over any cowboy without exception. Super direct with great attack — a superb tone that is both clear and articulate! In contrast, the P90 neck pickup sounds wonderfully thick, bluesy and warm — always open and bell-like.
