About This Listing
The Fender Custom Shop 1958 Heavy Relic Stratocaster is a traditionally-inspired instrument made with today's discriminating players in mind. Offering up a well-played, vintage feel, this Strat also comes complete with a range of player-friendly appointments and that old-school Strat sound that helped the Stratocaster become a musical icon. This Strat will make the perfect companion whether you're a collector, a vintage Fender enthusiast, or a guitarist who wants a classic feel and that time-tested Strat sound that'll cover genres ranging from jazz and funk to blues and hard rock.
Well-Played, Vintage Feel
The Black finish made its inaugural appearance back in 1958, so as a nod to the debut of this now-legendary finish, the two-piece select alder body of this 1958 Heavy Relic Strat comes dressed in a vintage-inspired Faded Chocolate 3-Color Sunburst finish. Giving this Strat the authentic wear and tear of a guitar that's been heavily gigged with for six decades, the 1958 Heavy Relic Strat has undergone the Fender Custom Shop Heavy Relic treatment on the body and vintage-carved neck to provide that well-played, vintage feel that guitarists love.
Player-Friendly Appointments
While the vibe of this Strat is unmistakably vintage, the Fender Custom Shop incorporated a selection of features that will satisfy the demands of today's modern player. For starters, the fingerboard features a contemporary 9.5" radius and 21 6105 frets to give this old-style guitar a more modern playing feel. In addition to a more modern feel, the electronics on this 1958 Heavy Relic Strat incorporate 5-way switching instead of the more traditional 3-way switch for added sonic flexibility. The electronics even come with a Tone-Saver-equipped Master Volume control that maintains your tone in the treble range even when you turn down the volume.
Old-School Strat Sound
While the electronics include some modern-day touches, this Strat delivers an authentic vintage sound that'll make you feel like you're actually playing a sixty-year-old guitar. Giving you that legendary late '50s singing single-coil sound, the ultra-responsive, hand-wound Fat '50s pickups give you those famed glassy trebles, those warm, full lows, and that classic midrange punch you'd expect from a late '50s Strat. The reverse-wound, reverse-polarity middle pickup offers hum-canceling abilities for low-noise performance.
