About this listing
This is a fantastic-playing 1959 AVRI Fender Stratocaster with an Alder body, beautifully finished in Nitro Aztec Gold and featherlight at 7.3 lbs, yet incredibly resonant. There is some nice natural checking across areas of the finish, as you'd expect with a nitro custom color, a few small dings, one half-fingernail sized chip on the lower right side of the top contour (see photos for details).
Period-correct cream colored volume and tone knobs and 3-ply tortoise-shell pickguard round out the vintage vibe.
Slim 'C' profile 9.25" radius maple neck with rosewood slab fingerboard and clay dots. Low action gives it a buttery playing feel, even with heavier-guage strings; it arrived with 12-58`s on it, Stevie Ray Vaughn-style, but is currently strung with Ernie Ball 10-52`s, professionally set up, and the sound is simply amazing; clear bell tone that you'd normally have to pay five times the price to have. Three way switch, original 1959-style wiring and a 1962 Fender circuit, cloth covered leads, and Brandonwound 50`s pickups round out the electronics. Vintage-correct Gudeman tone cap (0.096uF and pots all reading in the 246-247 range.
All hardware is period-correct nickel, kluson no-line tuners, bridge and saddle.
The Fender re-issue vintage-style tweed case in the photos is included, properly scuffed and used, but with all latches functional, a leather covered handle, and a very, very cool vibe.
