Fender Custom Shop’s Limited-edition ’61 Telecaster Relic is a painstaking re-creation of a golden era Tele. It has a 2-piece alder body for a lightweight and resonant tonal foundation. Next, it's loaded with two hand-wound pickups: a Twisted Tele in the neck and an Original Blackguard in the bridge — both offering all the twangy Tele goodness you can imagine. A quarter-sawn maple neck and Oval “C” profile sit solidly in your hand as you navigate up and down the rosewood fingerboard. Finally, the Limited-edition ’61 Telecaster Relic comes dressed up in a relic’d finish. Owning one of these fantastic relic’d guitars is just like owning a piece of history with one major difference — no prohibitive price tag.Plug the Limited-edition ’61 Telecaster Relic into your favorite tube amplifier, and the pickups will make quite the impression. In the neck position, a high-output Twisted Tele pickup practically rips through the speaker. Meanwhile, when you switch to the bridge, the Original Blackguard Tele pickup pumps out enough twang to tear the wallpaper off the walls. Both pickups were wound by hand in the Fender Custom Shop, adding another personalized touch and ensuring that each has its own distinctive voice.
