In addition to historically accurate features such as the matching headstock and the bound rosewood fingerboard, Fender has, of course, retained the certified construction of the American Vintage II ’66 Jazz Bass, naturally, the time-honoured construction featuring an offset alder body and a slim maple neck with the narrow ‘1966 U’ profile. Two Pure Vintage ’66 single-coil pickups and the traditional passive electronics also promise a wide range of vintage sounds, making the J-Bass an all-rounder for almost any musical genre. Last but not least, historically accurate hardware in the form of a Pure Vintage 4-saddle bridge and precise Pure Vintage ‘Lollipop’ tuners round off the American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Bass RW Lake Placid Blue from Fender.Traditional in construction and designIn the construction of the American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Bass, Fender adheres with great attention to detail to the specifications of the vintage year from which it takes its name. Beneath the thin nitrocellulose lacquer lies an alder body, whose ergonomic offset design, with rounded edges and generous comfort contours, ensures the bass guitar is comfortable to play both when slung over the shoulder and resting on the thigh. The bolt-on maple neck naturally features the authentic “1966 U” profile, which, with its pronounced rounding and narrow 38 mm nut width, promises excellent playability for any playing style. The rosewood fingerboard, featuring pearloid dots and elegant binding, is also laminated using the ‘Round Laminated’ method to the 7.25" radius (184 mm) specified by the neck blank.Authentic vintage sounds for almost any genrePlugged into a bass amplifier, the American Vintage II Jazz Bass proves to be a tonal all-rounder that not only feels at home in the jazz genre for which it is named, but also offers the right tones for virtually every musical genre, from blues, rock and R&B to funk and metal. Separate volume controls allow for seamless blending of the Fender Pure Vintage ’66 J-Bass single-coil pickups in the bridge and middle positions, providing an extensive range of tones with an unmistakable vintage character, ranging from the wiry, mid-range-focused punch of the bridge pickup to the deep yet transparent sound of the middle pickup. To customise the bass sound, the bass guitar also features the traditional, passive treble control.Historically accurate hardware specificationThe American Vintage II Jazz Bass RW Lake Placid Blue from Fender is completed by historically accurate replicas of its fittings. The roundwound strings, fitted at the factory, are mounted on the body via the traditional Pure Vintage 4-Saddle Bridge, whose fluted steel saddles not only guarantee precise intonation and action adjustment, but also allow the string spacing to be adjusted within certain limits. Behind the bone nut, precise Pure Vintage ‘Lollipop’ tuners with distinctive oval wings also keep the bass securely in tune. Furthermore, the headstock features a third strap button, which on original vintage instruments allowed the strap to be attached to the headstock using the traditional method. Last but not least, the bass comes with a historically accurate bridge cover for optional fitting.
