About this listing
AKG C391 B High Performance Condenser Microphone
The AKG C391 B is a compact cardioid condenser that sits comfortably in hand and mounts with minimal footprint, delivering crystalline clarity across vocals, acoustic instruments, and drum work. Its lightweight, ergonomic design makes it equally at home in fixed studio setups or portable applications, rewarding careful technique with honest, studio-quality results and excellent feedback rejection.
Audio Performance
A flat 20–20,000 Hz frequency response ensures accurate reproduction across the full spectrum, while the 77 dB-A signal-to-noise ratio and 17 dB-A equivalent noise level keep background noise minimal in demanding recording environments. Maximum SPL handling of 132 dB (1% T.H.D.) or 142 dB with the 10 dB pad engaged provides substantial headroom for loud sources without distortion.
Design & Connectivity
The cardioid polar pattern provides controlled pickup and natural rejection of off-axis sound, critical for isolating desired sources in mixed environments. A switchable 10 dB preattenuation pad and switchable 12 dB/octave high-pass filter (below 75 Hz) offer quick corrective tools, while the modular capsule system allows future customization and the balanced XLR male 3-pin connection with 9–52 V phantom power integrates seamlessly into standard professional signal chains.
