The Gestural Time Extractor (GTE) is an analogue pulse extractor and Channel Index Translator designed for the New Universal Synthesizer System (N.U.S.S.), while remaining fully compatible with any Eurorack modular system.
By analysing the motion of a signal patched to the Span input, GTE derives up to eight individual channel pulses, along with a GTE pulse stream that reflects the speed of the incoming voltage. Two additional gate outputs indicate activity across the even and odd channels.
The Space control adjusts the spacing between channel thresholds, changing both the sensitivity and responsiveness of the extracted pulses and the GTE output. This allows the module to translate slow or complex voltage movement into rhythmic timing events.
When a signal is connected to the Clock input, channel changes only occur when a trigger or gate is received, making it easy to synchronise the module with other timing events in your system.
With controls set to their default min-max positions, GTE also operates as a Channel Index Translator for modules such as PoliMATHS and other N.U.S.S. devices that generate Channel Index signals. This allows accurate extraction of individual channel gates from activity within the source module.
GTE can generate repeatable rhythms and timing signals from any analogue voltage source, including gestures, LFOs, function generators, or sequenced CV. It’s a powerful timing and event extraction tool for complex modular patches.
