“FolkeFele” / “LiraViolin” / “Troubadur Violin” from around the end of the 18th century. Rare instrument on offer.
In contrast to a traditional violin, this one has a more pear-shaped body with flatter edges, decorated with the finest wood carvings in inlays along the edge and an ornate string holder.
It has the same size and string structure as a regular violin – 4 strings, tuned in G–D–A–E – which makes it fully playable for a violinist.
These rare instruments today were mainly used for folk music and dancing.
It has a large, beautiful, warm and full sound that differs from the classical violin.
It is well preserved. New professional violin strings have been installed.
