Selling a Trickfish Bullhead 1 K amp, in top condition, great sound; the EQ sounds brilliant even at the 12 o’clock setting. For me, the fact that it’s a fanless amp was the deciding factor.

Everything works perfectly.

Quoted from ‘Gitarre und Bass’ magazine:

What the Bullhead delivers is truly something special. The decision not to make the top section as small as humanly possible makes it wonderfully uncluttered, easy to use and quiet in operation, as no fan is required. On top of that, it looks stylish, and the sound quality is outstanding. The power amp is likely to be among the best Class D units on the market, whilst Mike Pope’s preamp sounds so natural that it simply sounds like the connected bass itself. Subtly polished and refined, yet so elegant that, after playing for a short while, I kept forgetting that there was even an amp connected to the bass.

If your sound preferences lean towards a clean sound, you won’t need anything else.

All four tone controls have switchable frequency settings. It starts with the bass, whose switch allows you to choose between 40 Hz and 80 Hz. This sets the cut-off frequency of a low-pass filter; everything below this threshold is processed in a broadband manner with a ‘cow’s tail’ characteristic. The Low Mids control operates at 333 Hz or 473 Hz; here, the Q factor can also be switched to narrowband at the lower frequency and broadband at the higher frequency. The Hi-Mid control is similarly designed; here, processing is narrower at 1 kHz or broader at 1.8 kHz. The treble control again functions as a shelving filter – as the ‘cow’s tail’ is known in technical terms – at either 4 or 8 kHz.

A common feature of all the EQ potentiometers is that, in their detented, neutral centre position, they allow the signal to pass through unaltered. The Master control adjusts the final volume; its button is responsible for muting and also lights up blue when the Bullhead is muted. Next to this are the sockets: the Line In as a mini-jack for feeding in music, and the headphone socket as a standard jack. The Power button with its accompanying LED completes the front panel.
