Eastman Strings is a renowned instrument manufacturer based in Beijing, China. The company produces guitars, mandolins, violins, violas, cellos, and double basses using carefully seasoned, high-quality tonewoods. Eastman has earned a strong reputation in Japan as well as throughout Europe.

This is the Eastman PCH-M104/NAT, a new flat-top mandolin featuring a distinctive oval soundhole and a deep-body construction.

With its classic appearance reminiscent of traditional Gibson-style mandolins, the PCH-M104 combines a flat-top design with a deep body to create a completely different type of mandolin.

The spruce top and mahogany back and sides produce a gentle yet expansive tone. The sound has a spacious quality reminiscent of a small 12-string guitar, offering a tonal character distinctly different from that of traditional F-style mandolins.

The warm and open response makes the instrument particularly suitable for jazz, blues, and folk music, as well as singer-songwriter applications.

After arrival, the instrument was carefully set up in our in-house workshop. The nut and saddle were adjusted for improved playability, and the strings were replaced with extra-light gauge strings (.009 and up). The result is a very comfortable and easy-to-play setup.

With its approachable playing feel and distinctive sound, the PCH-M104 is also an excellent choice for players who are considering taking up mandolin for the first time.

Please note that the photos shown on the product page are sample images, so the actual wood grain may differ from the images.
