The D18 is one of Martin's most successful models. It was designed as a pure tone machine without frills. Countless artists have ensured that the D18 is an indispensable part of music history. Playing a vintage D18 is an almost magical experience, especially when it sounds as incredibly good as this 1967 D18!

Few dreadnoughts are as beloved as the Martin D18, a multi-purpose workhorse that prioritized function over style. Over the years, the specifications of this model have changed regularly, and this 1967 D18 shows which specs are characteristic of that period. The tortoise binding gave way to black in 1966, but the pickguard remains tortoise because it was not changed until sometime in 1967. The one on this guitar is a replacement.

But the magic of this guitar lies not only in its great projection and the full, warm sound that puts a smile on your face with every playing style. It also bears the marks of time, though good care and maintenance ensure that it remains in very good condition today.

The well-known pickguard crack is located on the top and has been glued. Additionally, various cracks on the back of the body have been repaired, including one running the entire length of the soundbox. Cleats have been glued in place around this crack and a smaller crack on the lower bout for stabilization. An overspray was previously applied to the soundbox and the back of the neck.

Furthermore, some material has worn away around the soundhole due to playing. The guitar has been refretted, and the radius was adjusted from a 12” to a 16” compound radius. The bridge has been replaced with a slightly oversized version, and the bridge plate has also been replaced. Additionally, the nut and bridge saddle have been replaced, and a strap button has been added to the heel. Finally, a brace has also been re-glued.

This D18 shows the signs of time in a stylish way, making it a true player ready for many more years of gaming fun!
